Parkland History

In the northern part of Florida's Broward County, 42 miles northwest of Miami, sits the suburban city of Parkland. The population of Parkland was 34,670 as of the 2020 Census. The Miami metropolitan region, which had 6,166,488 residents in 2020, includes Parkland. 

The city of Parkland is renowned for its "park-like" nature and for its stringent zoning regulations. Prior to the construction of Parkland Isles and Heron Bay, two sizable neighborhood developments, there were no shops or traffic signals in the area.

The city of Parkland was formed on August 13, 1963, by Florida Governor C. Farris Bryant. The line between Broward and Palm Beach counties runs along Parkland's northern border. North of the municipal borders of Boca Raton is the unincorporated community of West Boca Raton, which is a part of Palm Beach County. The Everglades border the west, Coconut Creek borders the east, Coral Springs borders the south.
